Monk's a good choice, since it sounds like you want to play PvE and make an army. Heal Area is useful when you have lots of fiends by you.

Default N/W to pure necro

Yeah i started out a N/W as well... I hence have removed all my warrior skills and am now a full blooded necromancer. I focus mainly on blood magic and soul reaping. I have enough in death magic to raise some horrors to create a buffer between me and the enemy which gives me time to blast them with life siphon and a few other goodies. I rely pretty heavily on a team though. Soul reaping doesnt work if something isnt dying. For going for a second class I would suggest mesmer or elementalist. Both have cheap skills (which are good for a necromancers limited energy) and have powerful spells for doing some good quick damage. You will die faster with these proffessions though than if you went monk secondary. BUT you will be more useful to your team as an ele or mesmer.

A N/E has absolutely no energy problems at all if you have high enough soul reaping and you throw in glyphs of lesser and greater energy...

N/W's can do some serious DoT damage with sever artery + life siphon.

Monk is best for you if you're going to have an army of minions so you can keep healing them.

Monk is useless to heal your minions - about the only heal in there worth even looking at is Heal Area, and your minions don't cluster that well for the most part. It does allow you to heal yourself to be able to use Blood of the Master and Verata's Sacrifice more effectively, but I think it's a poor choice.

I'd go N/R and use spirits to up your effectiveness.

Monk, throw Live Vicariously (sp?) on your minions or warriors/rangers to counter all that sacrificing of health that you have to do for certain spells. Combined with say, Order of the Vampire/Pain to beef up minions and fellow allies while keeping your health nice and high.

I like n/me with soul barbs and small curses, malaise, parasitic, etc. It's not a great PvE build but it will work nicely.

This is of course unless you are fighting a monk, a mesmer, a necromancer, or a warrior. I dont know enough about ranger to say that N/W would do much of anything to them. So, as long as your fighting Only rangers, your good.

I'm playing a 12th level N/R with lots of minions + pet in PvE.

But I want to try a N/Me in PvP, once I unlock more Skills (I've just started playing). My plan is to drain life and energy out of targets making them helpless. I'm sure someones tried this build, how does it work in practice?
